HEALTH CAMP REPORT: JULY 2005
True to our objectives, we conducted our second health camp with the view to screen for major diseases on
10th of July 2005 at Karuvepilankurichi (a village 250 km south east of Chennai). This is part of Rural Health Education
And Awareness Programme (RHEAP) to screen for diseases and educate the public about preventing it. I have given some of the
details and attached few photographs taken during the camp.
Close to 100 patients visited our health camp and were screened for diabetes, hypertension,
heart disease in specific and other health problems in general.
1. 14% of the patients were Hypertensive, which is on the higher side.
2. 11% were found to be Diabetics.
3. A young boy with a valvular health disease was found and was referred to tertiary medical centre for further treatment.
4. Surgical cases were also detected and referred to tertiary medical centre for further treatment.
5. General medical cases and dermatological cases were treated there it self.
Volunteers helped people understand the disease process and distributed leaflets explained in a simple local language (Tamil). We would like to conduct such camps again and arrange for appropriate treatments. An Ideal scenario would not only detect problems but follow them up with further treatment.
We expect your full support and continue ourwork.
